The Institute Instrumentation Center (IIC) (formerly USIC) was started at the level II at the erstwhile University of Roorkee in 1978 with the initial support of the University Grants Commission and has been upgraded to level III in 1991.
Institute Instrumentation Centre houses sophisticated instruments and provides state of the art analytical facilities to the students and faculty of this institute and to researchers from other organizations of the country as well. Summer practical training is also offered to engineering students of the state. This centre has a unique record of in-house repair and maintenance of sophisticated instruments along with the repair of other electronic instruments of the Institute. Such a unified facility manned by well qualified personnel will not only meet the needs of the Institute teaching and research activities but also benefit the nearby public and private organizations.
- To provide necessary analytical services on the specialized instruments assigned to IIC.
- To conduct occasional short-term courses on repair, maintenance and utilization of instruments.
- To collaborate with the academic staff of the various departments of the Institute in teaching instrumentation related courses as well as in design and fabrication of instruments and/or accessories suitable for research, whenever necessary
