FACILITIES AVAILABLE IN MICROWAVE PROCESSING LABORATORY

1. Microwave applicators

1.1) 3 kW Microwave Applicator

Microwave Frequency: 2.45GHz

Maximum output power: 3 kW

Description: This applicator can be used to heat the materials for casting, cladding, joining and sintering purposes. Maximum power can be produced 3 kW at 2.45GHz frequency; processing temperature can be measured with the help of a built-in sensor inside the cavity.

1.2) Microwave Sintering Furnace

Input Power: 5 kVA                         

Voltage: 230 volts and current 20A

Microwave Frequency: 2.45GHz

Output Power: 1.45 kW

Application: This furnace is used to cast, join and sinter metals, ceramics, polymers and composites using microwave energy. This can produce 1.45 kW power at 2.45GHz frequency. It has built-in infrared sensor to measure the process temperature.

4.2) Micro Vickers hardness Tester

Hardness test Range: 8HV-2900HV

Amplification of microscope: 100X for observation and 400X for measurement

Max. Height of specimen: 90mm

Application: To measure the microhardness value for the micro and thin specimens. This is also fit to measure the hardness for hard materials like glass, ceramics etc.
