Opening Hours : Monday to Friday - 8.45 am to 5.30 pm
The knowledge of bridge design and analysis has evolved by leaps and bounds in the past few decades. Further, more challenging projects are being executed in different parts of the country. Ambitious railway and highway projects are coming up in difficult terrains, such as Himalayas, which were earlier considered to be inaccessible for these modes of transportation. A variety of bridge types and configurations are being used to span this increasing demand and complexity. The conventional analysis using response spectrum may not be adequate for these bridges, and a time history analysis is necessary. The objective of the course is to provide in-depth understanding and hands-on training on different issues involved in earthquake time-history analysis of bridges, ranging from selection of appropriate time histories to detailed modelling including soil-structure interaction.

Prof. Yogendra Singh, IIT Roorkee | 25 K (offline) & 2 - 5 K (online) | March 23- 24, 2023 | Hybrid |
• Introduction to seismic response of bridges
• Selection and scaling of earthquake time histories
• Structural modelling of bridge structure and substructure
• Geotechnical modelling of bridge foundations
• Hands on training on selection, scaling, and spectral matching of ground motions
• Case studies on time history analysis of different types of bridges
The course has been designed for the practicing bridge designers involved in seismic design of bridges. Designers having working experience in seismic design of bridges using static methods will be able to fully appreciate the training programme. Being a hands-on training programme maximum 30 participants shall be admitted on first come first serve basis. Additional participants will be allowed to join on-line.
