Fluorescence Lifetime System (TCSPC)
About Instrument and its applications-
Fluorescence spectroscopy is among one of the powerful analytical probes being used extensively for analysis and characterization of compounds/materials in chemistry, materials science, physics, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, environmental science, nanotechnology etc. A variety of light emitting diode (LED)/laser diode (LD) devices are employed as light source to generate ns/ps pulses over a wide spectral range. The pulse excites the sample from which the emission can be detected in UV-VIS to NIR range.
The fluorescence decay kinetics along with the lifetime data usually provide an unambiguous identification of fluorescing material. The present fluorescence lifetime system is able to probe fast kinetic decay taking place in sub-nanosecond to fractions of second time domain. Besides, this  method is also used to analyze the complex photochemical and energy transfer processes occurring in the excited state. Polarization accessory may be used to determine the fluorescence anisotropy.

  • Excitation Sources: Nano LEDs with wavelength of - 280 nm, 295 nm , 340 nm, 375 nm, 405 nm, 440 nm, 460 nm, 590 nm, 605 nm, 625 nm, 635 nm, 785 nm, 830 nm, and Spectral LEDs of wavelength 370 nm.
  • Emission Monochromator: 200 – 850 nm with varied bandwidths ranging from 1-32 nm in different steps.
  • Fluorescence Detection range:  300 – 800 nm (using TBX-04D detector) and from 950-1700 nm (using Hamamatsu 10330-75 detector).
  • Additional Sample Holder: Thin Film at Ambient Temperature.
  • Polarization Accessory: Automated having wavelength range from 280 – 800 nm
  • Time Resolved Emission Spectra (300-800 nm)
Sample Requirements-
Flouroscent Samples (Liquid/Thin-Films) having concentration (≤ 5X 10-5 M)/ optical density ≤ 0.1.

Internal candidates have to first register themselves at following portal-
Obtain a Token ID after logging in to above portal and then submit application (which can be downloaded from below link) mentioning the token ID, registration no. along with other relevant details to the IIC office.

The payment may be made in advance (In Cash) at Institute Instrumentation Centre Office.
For users other than IIT Roorkee
The payment should be made in the form of a Demand Draft in favor of “Dean SRIC, IIT Roorkee”. The DD should be sent along with your application and Samples.
NOTE: The DD amount should include service tax as per GOI rules.
