Beas kund
“I’ve had a lot of worries in my life ,most of which never happened.”
One would put a toe into its glacial waters and wonder how a man could get out alive, everyday. Yes ladies and gentlemen, this trek was all about a sage named Vyas and the famous lake he allegedly bathed in-The Beas Kund. Perfect for the soul of a trekker which craves for Alpine lakes, nestled in the beauty of snow capped mountains, feeding the pristine green lake, it was definitely a must-go for the HEC contingent.

The group, all set for the journey left Roorkee for Dhundhi village near Manali and Solang Valley on the morning of September 30, 2016. It was a group of 35 trekkers. The experience of Beas Kund was indeed one of the best, be it crossing the rivers countless times or walking through the green valleys with its enchanting aura. The warm days & shivering cold chilly nights, if this wasn’t enough the voices of nature which send chills down the spine made the group reconsider everything but in the end the realization dawned that it was all worth it. The pristine green Beas lake made everyone forget all the worries and everyone just sat there & cherished everything. The trek was of short duration amounting to only two and a half days. Located near Manali, it boasts of its beauty. Starting from Dhundhi, the group walked most of the time through the green valley. Within the first half an hour of the trek the beauty of valley would unfold itself and one could realize why the trek is so popular. Throughout the walk one could listen to the burbling of the river. Everything surrounding was so peaceful and so green, it seemed that human footsteps were the only ones disturbing the harmony. Occasionally the group had to climb the mountains where one wrong step would have made this trek their last one. But luckily all of them could make it through, with all parts in place. Without a fire ablaze, the first night had become a cold spell numbing our muscles. The morning sun, peeping from the snow capped mountains finally lifted the spell and presented an awesome sight to behold. It was followed by a journey through slippery rocks leading to the kund and one could see a vast stretch of the never ending land. It all culminated beautifully when the contingent reached the Kund. The glacial waters of the lake could desert the fatigue away. Who would want to get up and return to their concrete forests? Unlike others, unexpected turn of events doesnt make a trekkers heartache, rather it adds to the thrill. The second night was such a sequence of events. There were horrifying bawls of beats encircling the camp. The moans of an injured animal could make anyone’s heart skip a beat. Eventually after hours of regular screaming, which robbed the trekkers of their peace it faded resulting in a sound night for the trekkers. The next morning came as a second chance to live and the group, victorious, left for Roorkee.
