Athletics, also called track-and-field sports, includes a variety of competitions in running, walking, jumping, and throwing events. Track and field are the earliest forms of organized sport, having developed out of the most fundamental human activities—running, walking, jumping, and throwing. Our team works to improve the student's overall health and fitness while also getting them ready for contests. Under the direction of skilled instructors, the students are put through practical training sessions. We provide a warm, supportive space where students may thoroughly explore their abilities. If you love sports, IITR is where you should be!
IIT Roorkee offers excellent facilities for Athletics aficionados with a well-maintained grass track. We have a separate cage for discuss-throw & hammer throw and have a pole vault & high jump mat. Except for Monday, The Ground is open from 5:30 am to 8:30 pm every day. In addition, we have a good track for walkers and a road route for marathons and cross-country races.
Sangram
Sangram is a four-day sports event that IIT Roorkee proudly proclaims is unique in itself. An assortment of sporting activities is held across the 350-acre campus. It sparks the competitive spirit of the nation's brightest minds by forcing them to compete on an equal sporting platform.
