Squash is a sport known for its technicality and extravagant shows. Here at IIT Roorkee the amusement gets boundless due to the abundant opportunities and world class facilities. One might feel that Squash is an underdog sport at various establishments, but not at IIT Roorkee. The sports enthusiasts get to experience exuberant matches in competitions like Colors Trophy and Open Championships.
Here at IIT Roorkee, all sports are given equal attention and care. Squash at IIT Roorkee boasts five splendid courts, with wooden flooring and which are well maintained and are renovated regularly.
The courts are open for everyone to play and practice and hone their skills.
Timings of the courts are morning from 6 to 8 and evening from 5 to 8.
The courts are open everyday except Mondays and national holidays.
Sangram is a four–day sports extravaganza and boasts of being one of a kind festival hosted by IIT Roorkee every year. An assortment of sports events is held in venues all over the 350 acre campus. It brings out the sporting spirit of the brilliant minds of the country, making them compete on a common platform.
The colors trophy is organized every year in the month of march. Whole institute team is divided into 4 teams namely – Red Bulls, Black Mambas, Blue Hawks, Green Mentis, by auction which compete alongside with staff and PG teams. All participants compete and show true sportsmanship resulting in boosting confidence, skills and growth of athletes.
The Institute Open is organized every year in the month of April. It is played in singles knockout format. Seeding is done on the basis of colours trophy performance. Winner gets a prize of ₹30,000/- and runner up gets a prize of ₹20,000/-.
All participants compete and show true sportsmanship resulting in boosting confidence, skills and growth of athletes.
