History
A brief history of the Centre for Nanotechnology.
Centre for Nanotechnology was established in December 2005 as one of the Centres of Excellence. The faculty members associated with the centre are involved in developing state-of-the-art facilities at the institute and vigorously pursuing interdisciplinary research on various current aspects of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. A wide range of sophisticated equipment related to nanotechnology has been made operational at IIC as well as at centre involving the multidisciplinary faculty of the centre. In view of the major impact of ‘Nanoscience’ in vast disciplines of Science and Technology, M.Tech. program on ‘Nanotechnology was started in 2008. This course is aimed at providing the basic knowledge to B.Tech./M.Sc. students about various concepts of nanoscale materials, their synthesis, characterization, novel properties, applications and future perspectives. This being a multidisciplinary area, a number of electives have been designed to impart-knowledge on modeling and simulation, physics, chemistry, biological and technological aspects of nanomaterials. Besides, it is providing students a practical training on advanced methods for the synthesis, characterization and elucidation of different nanostructures. This expertise could be utilized to fabricate new materials and nanodevices.
