PhD programmes are being undertaken in the identified related areas of research, open to bright and dedicated candidates.

CTRANS has started New MTech Program in Infrastructure systems w.e.f. July 2013 after the approval of the Senate.

The Sponsored Research & Development and Consultancy Projects are undertaken in the related areas of Transportation System. There is a scope of potential funding from the Ministries/Departments of Government of India. Government Corporations/ Undertakings/ Authorities etc. The consultancy activities are undertaken by the faculty in the multidisciplinary areas at the Centre. The facilities available at this Centre as well as of other departments are utilized to attract consultancy projects. Recently All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) sanctioned a Multi-institutional Nationally Co-ordinated Project on "Integrated Development of Public Transport System". This project is Coordinated at CTRANS. Department of Science & Technology, Government of India has sponsored a research project on "Design and Analysis of Urban Multimodal Mass Transport System".

The Centre shall organize Training Programmes as well as specialist courses to train the manpower in the various specialized areas of Transportation Systems. The various Teaching/Research and other organizations will be approached for deputing in service teachers/engineers/professionals. The Centre will run the M.Tech. programmes in Future. These programs in modular / sponsored type as well as through open admissions in Transport Infrastructure System, Rail Engineering and Transport Economics will be run in near future.
