CTRANS is a Centre of excellence of IIT Roorkee in the area of Transportation and infrastructure. The Centre aims to evolve a holistic approach to the study of Transport & management systems. CTRANS is primarily a multi-disciplinary initiative with the collective participation of Engineers, Architects, Planners, Scientists and Researchers from Science & Technology, Humanities and Social science, Architecture & Planning and Management backgrounds. The aim of CTRANS is to promote multi-disciplinary research and education for manpower development in transportation systems encompassing all modes of Transport such as Road Transport, Non-motorized Transport(NMT), Rail Transport, Inland Water Transport, Air Transportation, Freight & Logistics Transport etc.
To promote multidisciplinary research on transportation systems.
To provide technical support to national projects related to the growth of Transportation System in the country.
Establishment of International Linkage for collaborative research in the frontier areas.
Creation of a Resource Centre for rapid dissemination of information and knowledge.

Centre Research Day
1st Centre Research Day is organized by CTRANS
It gives us great pleasure to inform you that the Centre for Transportation Systems is hosting its first Center Research Day. On September 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM, this event will be held at the Biotech Auditorium. We are glad to welcome Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Dean Research & Faculty Welfare, Professor of Transport Planning from the School of Planning & Architecture, Delhi and Dr. Mukti Advani, Principal Scientist from CSIR-CRRI, Delhi, as Distinguished Expert for the event. The event will include but not limited to: Expert Lectures from honourable Chief guests and distinguished expert followed by Poster exhibition and Posters presentation by participants.
