BSL3 virus containment facility
Aim : The primary aim of a BSL-3 (Biosafety Level 3) virus containment facility is to provide a highly secure and controlled environment for the safe handling and study of infectious agents that can cause serious or potentially lethal diseases through inhalation. These facilities are designed to protect both laboratory personnel and the external environment from exposure to potentially dangerous pathogens. By incorporating advanced safety measures such as specialized ventilation systems, airlocks, and rigorous operational protocols, BSL-3 facilities enable researchers to conduct critical scientific investigations, develop vaccines and therapeutics, and enhance our understanding of infectious diseases while minimizing the risk of contamination or accidental release.
Facilities :
Structural Biology and Computational Facility
Aim: Structure determination of proteins and other biological small/macro-molecule for drug development. Computational biology facility to address diverse biologically pertinent issues by developing novel algorithms/resources. We also work in collaboration with doctors for diagnosis and treatment of several diseases.
