Major Research Projects: Sponsored Initiatives Undertaken by the Department of Earthquake Engineering

The Department of Earthquake Engineering has actively undertaken numerous major research projects funded by national and international agencies. These projects focus on advancing the understanding of seismic hazards, earthquake-resistant design, retrofitting of structures, geotechnical earthquake engineering, and disaster risk reduction. Sponsored by organizations such as the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Department of Science and Technology (DST), National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), and international bodies like the World Bank and UNDP, these projects have made significant contributions to policy formulation, infrastructure safety, and capacity building in seismic-prone regions. The department’s expertise and research outcomes continue to support sustainable development and disaster resilience in India and beyond.
