Aloe-Vera Processing Machine
Development of Aloe-Vera Processing Machine for Natural Cosmetic Multi Products
Aloe-Vera, wild apricot oil and Artemisia along with other natural ingredients are used for preparing natural cosmetic products. In the pharmaceutical industry Aloe-Vera has been used for the manufacture of products such as ointments and preparing cosmetic products like creams, soaps etc. Aloe Vera processing involves blending, grinding and heating of the juice of Aloe Vera leaf and other constituents to produce multiple products. Extracted juice mixed with other substances to produce pharmaceutical, cosmetic products. However low-cost single unit at small scale which combines all operations is not readily available locally. So, in order to execute all the processes in single unit and overcome the difficulties, RuTAG, IIT Roorkee has designed and developed Aloe Vera processing machine.
Salient Feature of Aloe-Vera Processing Machine for Natural Cosmetic Products
Cream/emulsion making unit which can facilitate all operations of grinding blending & heating of Aloe Vera pulp & other products while controlling all critical parameters during the process in a single unit.
Optimization of unit for emulsification/production of various products such as cosmetics (Moisturizers/creams, shampoos & lotions) juices/beverages etc. Utilization of underutilized natural plants & other useful materials. Establishment of micro-enterprise based on natural cosmetic products.
Aloe-Vera Processing Machine
Dissemination Potential- Local marginal farmers who are cultivating Aloe-Vera and small entrepreneurs, NGO etc.
Tentative Cost of the Unit- Rs. 30,000 /-
Demand Driven Technology- To Provide additional livelihood for the locals and upgrading skills through developing appropriate techniques to make various natural cosmetic products from Aloe Vera pulp and other useful plants, a low-cost machine is developed which can facilitate all operations of grinding, blending and heating of Aloe Vera pulp &other products while controlling all critical parameters during the process in a single unit. This will provide a sustainable source of income for the farmers/people of the village area.
NGO- Society for farmer Development Mandi Himachal Pradesh
Major Drawback of the Conventional Method
Machines are available but do not have grinding function in them, which is extremely required in this process.
The machine runs at single speed.
Single unit is not available to execute all processes.
The cost of existing machines is very high
Impact of Technology
People use a single unit to execute the whole process.
Machines are more feasible to be adopted by marginal farmers.
It generates livelihood opportunities for the local people.
Provide sustainable source of income to the farmers/people of the area.
Feedback from Users
Machine was working smoothly for grinding the Aloe-Vera gel, which was their main concern. Also, proper blending of mixture is also achieved and operation of machine is very easy due to which unskilled labour can also operate it thus it will increase employment- Shri Bhupendra Mehta chairman of Society for Farmer Development Mandi Himachal Pradesh.
