Introduction
Adarsh Bal Niketan provides all round education to develop a sound mind, a robust physique and strong moral values. As an educational institution located within the campus of The Indian Institute of Technology (formerly, University of Roorkee), it strives for excellence while upholding the highest secular values enshrined in our Constitution. Over the last sixty-four years, ABN has striven to produce citizens who will serve the best interests of the Nation in various walks of life and society.
History
The institution was founded as a kindergarten school on the auspicious day of Gandhi Jayanti (October 2, 1956) under the stewardship of Mrs. Sushila Khosla. From very humble beginnings, with the motivation to provide formal education to the labourer’s children, the school quickly became an institution of choice for Roorkee-ites. In 1986, The CBSE affiliated school upgraded to a senior secondary school and continues to set new bench marks for others to follow. The students who have passed out of the school over the years have made the school proud by excelling in various walks of life, both in India and abroad.
IIT Involvement
The biggest asset of the school is its very close association with IIT Roorkee. The IIT faculty who have a passion for excellence in teaching have often come forward to voluntarily share their knowledge. IIT Faculty also share their expertise in workshops organised to improve teaching methodology. Students of ABN have the advantage of practical learning through school trips to the various departments of IIT Roorkee.
