The Master of Business Administration (MBA) at IIT Roorkee is an 8 term, 99 credit, the residential program spread over two academic years. The course structure is designed to impart knowledge of the core management concepts and techniques in the first year which are, thereafter, upgraded to advanced knowledge and practising skills in the areas of specialization opted for by the students in the final year.

Presently, the Department offers dual specialization in any two of the following:

Executive MBA - Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee

The Executive MBA from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee focuses on building cross-dimensional expertise and strong foundations in the fields of business and technology. Students will develop an insight into key managerial processes and gain analytical expertise with a technology-centric viewpoint. They will learn and sharpen their managerial skills, deepen industry insights, and develop richer perspectives aligned with the needs of industry 4.0. This programme blends experiential and participative learning modes like simulations, business case studies, project work, and live and recorded lectures for a richer learning experience.

This degree programme is designed keeping in mind the needs of the contemporary business environment. In this programme, you will learn the application of emerging trends in automation and data, focusing on areas such as service, manufacturing, consulting, finance and more. Once the student completes this degree programme, they will develop managerial skills to spearhead their department/organisation effectively. With this highly flexible and customisable degree programme, students can choose from over 55 electives, customise their credential, and specialise in disciplines that align with their career goals. They also have the opportunity to earn up to three different specialisations from this degree programme.

2. Flexibility to complete
The Executive MBA is a two-year degree programme with the option to complete it in up to five years. This flexibility makes it possible for students to learn at the pace that’s right for their goals and timeline.

The first cohort of students of the Executive MBA programme come from diverse geographies and professional backgrounds.
• 50% of learners are from India, 25% from US, 9% each from the UK and Germany and 6% learners are from Singapore.
• The cohort has an average professional experience of 11 years.
• Students come from prominent companies across Tech, Media, Banking & Financial Services, Telecom, Consulting, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas and Hospitality industry - like Amazon, Deloitte, Google, TCS, Infosys, Indian Oil, General Motors, Genpact, etc.
• 43% of the cohort belong to Technology roles and hold diverse positions including Directors, Senior Managers, Senior Engineers and Research Scientists.


Structure of Executive MBA (EMBA) Programme

The Department of Management Studies is involved with in-depth research work in the different functional areas of management. The Department has facilities for Doctoral research for aspiring and meritorious students both under full time and part-time modes. Fellowships are available in line with the Institute norms. Faculty members are actively engaged in research in the contemporary areas of management science like Corporate Restructuring, Accounting Systems, Financial Regulations, Business Excellence, Emerging Markets, Financial Derivatives, Risk Management, Portfolio Theory etc.

The current research work is focused in the area of Financial Management, Information Systems, Data Science, Knowledge Management, Marketing Management, Operations Research, Organisational Behavior, Human Resource Management and Quality Management. The Ph.D programme is designed keeping in view the current global corporate needs and the application of managerial knowledge towards better decision making/problem-solving. Study of cross-functional disciplines and their applications like ERP, SCM, CRM, KM and other Enterprise Solutions also constitute areas where Ph.D research is undertaken.
