Tell us something about your experience before joining DoMS IIT Roorkee?
I am a motivational team leader and an outstanding young man with the logic and enthusiasm needed to take on what the world throws at me. Being a Tajik, working in various fields, contributing as a geographer, educator, and civil servant over five years, I have learned to adjust to cultures and traditions. I want to share my educational background, practical experience, special interests, and career plans by telling my story. I was accepted by several universities within Tajikistan and decided to attend the Tajik State Pedagogical University since I knew it would be the best fit for my career. I got my bachelor’s degree in geography and economics in 2018, graduating with a GPA of 3.64. I developed my language skills in Tajik, Russian, and English and gained practical experience working as a high school geography teacher in the International Presidential School. In Tajikistan, ambitious, high-achieving graduates are not encouraged to become teachers. This is shortsighted as the country desperately needs inspiring, capable teachers to increase educational standards and equip the next generation with the skills and knowledge to succeed. Working as a teacher is also beneficial for the individual. Being a teacher helped me to achieve and understand a lot of things. It also helped me improve my leadership skills. Teachers are leaders: they influence their students and are required to be well-informed about many topics. I often took unorthodox approaches to encourage my students to broaden their horizons and think for themselves in my lessons. In one class, I explained how human beings cause environmental issues, and we discussed responsibility, sustainability, and how we can all make changes for the better. I didn’t assign a specific task but was so impressed by the levels of interest and engagement that I still scored the students highly and rewarded them with achievement certificates. To be an effective teacher, you have to inspire as well as direct others. If you do this, your students will not only achieve their goals but surpass them—my feeling of social responsibility for my generation and those who follow influences everything I do. Besides teaching, I contribute to Tajikistan’s socio-economic and environmental development in many ways. I have participated in many initiatives, projects, events, and civil works in sustainable development and human welfare. I founded APSUC Academy to improve the quality of teaching and learning and make courses readily available to students from all backgrounds. And working for the World Bank and the State Committee for Tourism Development, I have been able to contribute directly to projects that provide economic opportunities for women, youth, and other vulnerable groups and protect and promote the natural and cultural heritage sites of Tajikistan.

What is it that you want to learn and become more proficient at during your stay at DoMS IIT Roorkee?
One of the most common reasons for doing an MBA at IIT Roorkee is that I can lead to the next step in their careers once I get back to my country. Studying MBA at one of the top universities of India can add specific business skills to my toolkits, such as leadership or strategic thinking, that will be good firepower when applying for management-level positions or promotions not in the workplace when I am currently working. Besides these, I would like to improve my teaching, analytical skills, long-term strategic thinking, networking, leadership, and more through studying MBA at IIT Roorkee. Finally, I would like to emphasize that since traveling has become my hobby, I always tried to travel to India to have the opportunity to discover Indian culture for myself and share it with my community.
