Financial Analytics Lab (Lab Space Area)
Financial Analytics Lab is a specialized facility designed to support data-driven financial analysis, research, and practical learning using advanced analytical tools, financial databases, and software platforms. The initiative was driven by Prof. A. K. Sharma, Professor, Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, in the year 2026. The development and operational setup of the laboratory were managed by the Department of Management Studies (DoMS) in collaboration with the Mahatma Gandhi Central Library, IIT Roorkee. The lab is equipped with eight Bloomberg Terminals, providing access to real-time global financial market data, analytics, economic indicators, and professional research tools widely used across the finance industry. The facility enables students, researchers, and faculty members to gain practical exposure to financial markets, investment analytics, portfolio management, risk assessment, and financial modeling in a simulated professional environment. The Financial Analytics Lab aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice, fostering analytical thinking, research excellence, and skill development aligned with contemporary financial and business analytics requirements.
Lab was equipped with two perpetual licenses - STATA 19 8 Core Perpetual License. STATA is an advanced statistical and econometric software package widely used for data analysis, econometrics, financial modeling, and academic research. The 8-core version utilizes multi-processor computing to significantly enhance processing speed for large datasets and complex statistical computations with an initiative by Prof. Anamika Kulbhaskar, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, IIT Roorkee in the year 2026.
