Digital X – Ray X-rays are a type of electromagnetic radiation that can penetrate various materials, including human tissue. This unique ability makes Digital X-rays especially useful in medical imaging, where they are commonly used to produce images of the inside of the body. Digital X-ray imaging is particularly effective for viewing bones, but it can also help visualize certain organs and soft tissues, aiding in the diagnosis of injuries and medical conditions.

The following types of Digital X-Rays services available in the X-Ray unit.

1. Chest X-ray (CXR)
Used to view the lungs, heart, ribs, and diaphragm. Commonly used to detect pneumonia, tuberculosis, lung cancer, and heart enlargement.

2. Abdominal X-ray
Helps assess issues in the stomach, intestines, bladder, and kidneys. Useful for detecting kidney stones, bowel obstructions, and swallowed objects.

3. Spine X-ray Views the cervical, thoracic, or lumbar spine. Helps detect disc problems, spinal fractures, or scoliosis.

4. Shoulder
Views: AP (anteroposterior), Axillary, Scapular Y-view Purpose: Evaluate fractures, dislocations, or rotator cuff injuries

5. Humerus (Upper arm bone)
Views: AP and Lateral Purpose: Identify fractures, bone lesions, or tumors.

6. Elbow Views: AP, Lateral, Oblique Purpose: Detect elbow fractures, joint effusion, dislocations, or arthritis.

7. Forearm
Includes: Radius and Ulna Views: AP and Lateral Purpose: Diagnose fractures, particularly both bone forearm fractures.

8. Wrist
Views: PA (posteroanterior), Lateral, Oblique Purpose: Evaluate fractures (e.g., scaphoid), ligament injuries, or arthritis.

9. Hand Views: PA, Lateral, Oblique Purpose: Assess fractures, arthritis, dislocations, and infections.

10. Fingers/Thumb Views: PA, Lateral, Oblique Purpose: Examine joint alignment, fractures, or foreign bodies.
