The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee invites applications from prospective, highly motivated, outstanding candidates for multiple faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor (AP).

• The positions are open in all traditional, modern, and emerging research areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
• Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) and overseas citizens of India (OCI) are also eligible to apply.
• Foreign nationals (i.e., persons not having an Indian Passport, PIO/OCI cards) are strongly encouraged to apply for faculty positions.
Foreign nationals can be offered a contractual position for five years.

Outstanding young (preferable under 35 years of age) candidates, having a strong research publication record with demonstrated independence/leadership in conducting research, shall have the following qualifications and minimum experience to be considered for the faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor (AP)

Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree with first class or equivalent academic record in all preceding degrees (B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech.) in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Experience

• At least one year of post-doctoral experience from a reputed university/ organization outside/ inside India.
• Experiences gained during Ph.D. and pre-Ph.D. shall be excluded.

Based on the duration of the post-doctoral experience of the candidate, the following academic position may be offered:

Position

Assistant Professor Grade – I (APG-I)
• Post-Doctoral Experience: Above 3 years
• Remarks: Regular position

Assistant Professor Grade – II (APG-II)
• Post-Doctoral Experience: In between 1 – 3 years
• Remarks: Tenure track

Candidate having below 3 years of post-doctoral experience will be put on tenure track (APG – II) for the regular post (APG – I), and will be placed in the regular scale of APG – I without appearing again before the Selection Committee, on completion 3 years of experience requirement

Pay structure
Academic Pay Level-12 (Rs. 1,01,500- 1,67,400) • Minimum starting pay for direct appointment:
Rs. 1,01,500 (Academic Pay Level-10 at Cell No. 1)
• On completion of 3 years of service as APG-II: Academic Pay Level-13A1 (Rs. 1,31,400- 2,04,700)

2. Assistant Professor(Grade – II)

Remarks
• Tenure track position
• Rs. 78,300 (Approx. gross salary at the time of joining)
Pay structure
Academic Pay Level-10 (Rs. 57,700- 98,200)
• Minimum starting pay: Rs. 70,900 (Academic Pay Level-10 at Cell No. 8)
• On completion of 1 year of service: Academic Pay Level-11
• On completion of 3 years of service: Academic Pay Level-12
The online application received by the Assistant Registrar (Recruitment) is shared with the Head of Department (HoD) and Dean of Faculty Affairs (DoFA). The review of applications and selection process involves the following sequential steps:

1. The Department Faculty Search Committee (DFSC) gives a recommendation on the suitability of the applicant's candidature.

2. Head of Department (HoD)
• Invites the candidates recommended by DFSC for a personal interaction with faculty members of the department and a research presentation open to all students and faculty members of the institute.
• Shares the profile of candidates recommended by DFSC with faculty members of the department.
• Sought the recommendation letters from the referees of the candidates.

3. All faculty members of the department give their feedback based on the personal interaction, research presentation, and profile of the candidate.

4. Department Faculty Advisory Committee (DFAC) reviews and gives recommendations based on the candidate's profile, feedback of faculty members, reference letters, etc.

5. The Institute Faculty Advisory Committee (IFAC) reviews the recommendations of DFAC.

6. The candidate positively recommended by IFAC is called for an interview with the faculty selection committee.

The candidate/referees are communicated through e-mail only. No correspondence, whatsoever, is entertained from the candidates regarding conduct and result of the interview, and reasons for not being called for the interview or selection.
